Pine Tree Photography is a (semi-)completed and functioning site now. Check it out, and let me know if you have any problems or suggestions.

This is what I’ve been spending about 1/3 of my web development time on lately – Pine Tree Photography: the web site.

It’ll basically replace the gallery on here. Maybe. I’ve pretty much tacked on everything I can think could work with the site on the test page; I’m not sure if I’ll go through with all of them. Most of the links don’t work yet. At least you get to see the design. :)

No more lonely clock

I spent the last hour or two making my menu bar clock on my iMac feel a little more social. Here’s what I found (these are all free, by the way) from left to right:

Net Monitor

Meteorologist

PTHCPUMonitor

Searchling

Now I can see almost everything I could ever want to know about what’s going on with my computer and outside without even opening a program or the window. Rock.

Tonight’s links

I’ve been surfing around the Internet today and tonight just finding random sites… here are a few.

Movie Trailers @ Apple: trying to decide what to rent in Netflix Round II

Comictastic: a great OS X comics viewer… thanks to Chris Pirillo for the recommendation

The Rosetta Project: one of those great projects out there, seen today in NMD 207

PriceWatch: the site I’ll be using to look for parts for my new (well, dream) computer… (stay tuned)

M@ineSites.net: my newest site, finally up. :)

Oh, OK, it’s winter

So that’s what it feels like to walk to class with a -20˚F windchill.

Good to know, but it’s not fun.

Wow…

OK, tonight on TSS, Kevin Mitnick will be going online for the first time in 5 years. They’ll have Shawn Fanning, the founder of Napster – probably THE BIGGEST innovation since the Web was created (I think that even though I don’t agree with the technology) – and Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, and others, all on the show tonight.

They even got a Reuter’s story which was published on Yahoo, CNN, and others, featuring the show tonight.

But what does TechTV publicize?

Puh-leese.

First impressions (day 1)

January 21, 2003 at 2:49 pm · Comments (0)

I’m done with my first day of the spring semester. I survived.

COS 230: Programming Languages
I think I’ll like this course; it’s not as much about specific languages as it is learning how concepts of programming span between different languages. It’s good I have it at the beginning of the day; it’s a great class to start the day.

NMD 362: Visual Reporting & Storytelling
Is this my class or what? Taking pictures to create a story. Learning about the composition and aesthetics of pictures. Writing good captions. I really like Bill Kuykendall, and the class seems like it’ll be a great one. I finally get to take a photography course! Woohoo!

PSY 305: Psychological Aesthetics
Well, there wasn’t that much to this class today, but it sounds like it should be interesting. Professor Martindale seems to have a good sense of humor, and the syllabus looks interesting. I don’t think it’ll turn into a HTY 197, and it should be a good way to end the day.

Alright, partner…

[music from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly plays softly in background] Alright, partner, this means war. :)

Whoops, again

Apparently my changes to the site left a bit of a problem for people who hadn’t changed the modules – if you were using Explorer, you couldn’t see it.

Thanks to Mom for letting me know about it. Basically, I switched the location where I kept the filename of the photo displayed in the ‘pic’ section. It couldn’t find it, so it kept trying to find it and trying to find it but it didn’t have much luck. I don’t have that module displayed on my computer, so I didn’t notice it.

Anyway, all should be fine now. Happy browsing!
