Whale watching 2003

August 28, 2003 at 8:35 pm · Comments (0)

We got it on our second try; I went down to Bar Harbor to watch whales for the 8th or 9th year two weekends ago. The boat ride was fun, and I took my GPS this time so that I could see where we actually went and saw whales. Hopefully I’ll be able to compare them to next year’s trip.

On our trip we saw five or six finback whales which probably averaged between fifty and sixty feet long. We were also able to see an ocean sunfish, which is a weird-looking large fish pictured above. Probably the best three hours I’ve spent on the water for a long, long time (even though it’s some of the only time I’ve spent out on the water for a long, long time). Photos coming soon to PTP.
