Maine Times out

I don’t really believe in the “all good things must come to an end” theory, but every so often it comes true. The Maine Times – easily my favorite magazine – ceased publication last month because of financial concerns.

The Times (the latest version of it, at least) was a beautifully designed, colorful magazines about issues that really affected Maine. Printed on high-quality Maine paper, it took over for what I’ve heard Down East used to be. I read nearly every page of every issue; the photography was great (though a large part of it was licensed through Getty Images), the writing was on-target, and the issues were real.

I hope that someone picks it up. It’s definitely worth a second chance.
