Spence at Bumstock

“Why do we live here? … congratulations, you’ve made it to the end of the year. Now die.”

- Spencer Albee of As Fast As, playing at Bumstock with temperatures in the 30s (he’d later strip down and play in his boxers)

24/7

I go to the University of Maine.

I have a sticker on the back windshield of my car that says “University of Maine”.

I wear University of Maine clothing around campus.

I know the words to the Stein Song.

I proudly tell the people I meet that I am a UMaine student.

I know that going to UMaine has made me a better person.

…and not just when the University of Maine hockey team is playing for a national championship.

Why remix? That’s why

So why all this fuss about Creative Commons licenses and such? Well, here’s a good example (even though the original’s not under CC, it should be. so nyah.).

Skeewiff remixed “Man of Constant Sorrow” from O Brother, Where Art Thou, a great song to begin with, into an awesome electronic jam. BoingBoing has the link.

Hey, you took my idea… thanks

The University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana) has launched a service called the Music Recommendation System. This system reads your iTunes music ratings (Mac OR Win) and gives you recommendations based on what you’ve already rated.

I thought of something like this a while ago, and I was trying to make a site like it. This saves me a lot of work, and it seems to be pretty promising.

Due to the nature of recommendations, the more people who use the service, the better the recommendations will be. If you use iTunes, please rate your music and then submit it to the site so we can all get better recommendations!

Please call home

If you see the main page of justinrussell.com, please tell it to call me. I’m worried about it… I don’t want it to have too much fun.
