Thoughts on Election Day
I voted today.
I’ll be the first to say that America has one of the best election processes in the world, and our democratic federal republic (most of the time) works really well.
I’d like to know what you think. If you voted, what do you think could be improved about the system? If you didn’t, why didn’t you?
I think the biggest improvement for me would be more information about issues and candidates (especially local ones). I walked into the polling place without a clue about any of the local elections. I ended up leaving the questions blank, but it would’ve really been nice if I could have made a good decision about who I should support.
By this time next year I’ll do something about it.

I felt the same way about the local representatives section. It’s mostly my own fault, but I had no idea who any of them were, except for the two that were standing there in the doorway shaking hands with people. I just left that section blank. For this reason I almost didn’t vote at all, but after seeing the reasoning being used by those in the “yes on 1″ camp, I had to go vote against them. But that’s a little off topic…
I didn’t vote. 1) I just moved, and I’m now a NJ resident. I don’t know where to register to vote. I might have looked into it before today if I had cared enough about the gubernatorial race, but… 2) … this article sums up why I didn’t care.
