Tomorrow’s trip
There are two roads in Maine that touch just about every aspect of the state: Route 1 and Route 27.
Route 1 is a comprehensive road that runs 529 miles from Kittery to Fort Kent. It follows the coastline and then heads along the Canadian border until it reaches the northernmost sections of the state.
Route 27 is a shorter stretch that runs from the mountains to the coast. It’s quite an amazing road; it runs approximately 100 miles from north of Sugarloaf and Carrabassett Valley through Augusta and down to Wiscasset on the coast.
Tomorrow I’ll be driving along Route 27 from the Carrabassett area down to the coast. I guess we’ll see how far I get; there are tons of great places along the way. I’ll try to capture how much of a variety one route can offer.
